A.I.R has established special interest groups to meet the specific needs of membership cohorts. Issues and matters of interest to members of each group are circulated to group members. To be attached to a group you must be an A.I.R. member with email access.
Self Managed Super Fund Group (SMSF Group). The group aims to exchange up-to-date information with trustee/members through the internet. It also acts as a means by which A.I.R. can identify SMSF trustee/members interests and concerns and advocate those by way of formal submissions to Government and approaches to other agencies Where a need is identified the group facilitates the preparation of tools to assist SMSF trustees/members in the administration of their fund.
Baby Boomers Group (BB Group) The purpose of the group is to provide a flow of information to members in the younger age group. Our objective is to demonstrate the relevance of A.I.R. to the baby boomer generation. The group regularly sources items of interest from the public domain and email it directly to members who have elected to receive the information.
Retirement Visas Advocacy Group. The group seeks to build on previous success with changes to Visa conditions. The group coordinates advocacy and continues to pursue the ultimate aim of permanent residency, as well as seeking changes to reciprocal Health Agreements and Medicare benefits from which members are currently excluded.
Retirement Incomes Research Group (RIRG) The group acts for the special interests of self funded retirees (SFR) on matters affecting retirement income including submissions to Government and other agencies. It works to achieve equity between those without superannuation and those with superannuation. It presses for better taxation regimes for SFR and retirement income products that provide greater certainty and reliability to SFR during their retirement life span.
